“They dumped her because of WHAT?”

Vickery EckhoffThe word is out across the Blogosphere; Forbes’ equine “in your face” reporter Vickery Eckhoff was canned just 10 hours after writing an insightful article critical of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and their good ole boy “ Welfare Ranchers “and only hours before speaking to international equine professionals at this year’s Equine Advocates Annual Summit. What the heck gives?

First thought that crossed my mind was that her article was so in-depth and accurate on the undoing and destruction of our wild horses and burros at the hands of the BLM that Big Brother truly did have a far reaching hand that could, and would, strangle mainstream, honest media. I was salivating at the opportunity to prove that this was the case as the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro program has…

Vickery Eckhoff sacked by Forbes after publication of wild horses, Cliven Bundy article

we need to write to these people to make our positions known

Tuesday's Horse

Once again, it appears that good journalism at Forbes.com has been sacrificed on the altar of corporate power.

Vickery Eckhoff, Forbes writer was fired after publication of Federal Grazing Program in Bundy Dispute Rips-Off Taxpayers, Wild Horses.

The straw that broke Forbes’ back was published Friday on the complexities of wild horse and burro management, and the related high cost to taxpayers of the federal grazing program.

The article follows a long, well researched and factual series by Vickery on Forbes.com that exposed the unregulated horse slaughter industry.

Please send the link to this article to your elected officials in Congress.

Twin PeaksThe recent National Academy of Science (NAS) report on the Wild Horse and Burro Program determined that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has no evidence of excess wild horses and burros; because the BLM has failed to use scientifically sound methods to estimate the populations (NAS, 2013). The NAS cited two chief criticisms of the Wild Horse and Burro program: unsubstantiated populations estimates in herd management areas (HMA), and management decisions that are not based on science (NAS, 2013).

Effective wild horse and burro management is dependent on accurate population counts and defensible assumptions. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) routinely uses the assumption that wild horse and burro herds increase annually at an average rate of 20%. However, our review of available scientific literature combined with an analysis of…

Apparently, the definition of “wild” is to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as the definition of “is” was to former president Bill Clinton. When Clinton was asked about whether he had engaged in sexual activity with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, he stated, “There is no improper relationship.” Later when caught in his web of lies, Clinton verbally scrambled claiming, “It depends on what your definition of “is” is.” The BLM just recently rounded up and sent to slaughter a herd of wild horses that they claim are not wild because they were “descended from strays” and thus are not officially “wild.” As it turned out…

The entire situation was a perfect storm for “STUPID”

I have tried to stay away from commenting, opinionating or postulating on the BLM vs Bundy fiasco in Nevada last week because, initially, I felt the BLM was doing the right thing and such a concept totally rocked my perception of reality. I have never ever been on the same side of the fence with this out of control rogue agency …the sky must be falling and look, pigs are flying.

Here we have a mealy mouthed, welfare rancher who carries vagrancy to a new level by not only grazing his private cattle on public land, your acreage, but he has refused to pay the teeny-weeny, token grazing fees for the past twenty, yes count them 20, years; bum, thief, slacker.

(We like real land tax paying ranchers, some are…

Bullies historically, nationally, and American have all suffered from an arrogance born from remaining unchallenged after vanquishing weaker foes. 2012: What's the 'real' truth?

APRIL 16, 2014 BY 21WIRE 38

The US federal government might have just evoked the fury of animal right groups over their shocking treatment of cattle at the Bundy Ranch, and may soon face legal charges of severe animal abuse in Clark County, Nevada.

Federal agency’s treatment of residents at the Bundy Ranch this past week included tasering, beating, wrongful arrest, threatening residents with attack dogs, and mobilizing a federal paramilitary force whose barrels were trained on US citizens, all in all, spending at least $3 million of tax payer money in an effort to sell stolen cattle over state lines in Utah and California. A legal argument has also been made that the US Department of Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is now guilty of racketeering under the federal RIC) statute (Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organizations). If all that wasn’t…

The newest residences at Mercedes House, a ziggurat of luxury rentals on Manhattan’s Far West Side, provide tenants with creature comforts found nowhere else in the city.

Special flooring soothes legs weary from a long day’s work. Ten-foot-high doors offer easy passage between spacious rooms. A high-tech ventilation system eliminates even the worst odors.

Most crucially, there’s a state-of-the-art hayloft.

“It’s definitely high-end accommodations,” said Deputy Inspector Barry Gelbman, commander of the New York Police Department’s mounted unit. “They’re some of the nicest stables I’ve ever seen.”

This summer, Inspector Gelbman will move the unit’s headquarters and a dozen of its horses and 20 officers into their new home on the…

Blade’s Story: A Carter Reservoir Mustang by Jean Bilodeaux

It was May 6, 2007 when we first saw him, while finishing an afternoon horseback ride on the public lands east of Cedarville. Several bands of mustangs were ranging in this part of

the BLM’s 23,000+ acre Carter Reservoir Wild horse herd management area.  Colts cavorting with their peers, mares munching on the dried grasses, while the lead mare and stallion kept

watch for danger was a sight to watch. It was a comforting sight to see these “families” of buckskins, bays, blacks and paints existing so well in this high desert wilderness.

Riding back to our trailer he was spotted, an unusual movement on the hillside in front of us that didn’t quite fit in. Mingling with a group of five cows was a slightly taller, browner

shape, watching us. Studying the shape, we could see he was a young bay stallion. He appeared to be about two years old, probably run off from…
