Straight from the Horse's Heart

Milane “Mimi” Rehor (Arkwild, Inc.) was our guest on Wild Horse & Burro Radio last night (the show is archived if you didn’t get a chance to listen).  A big thanks to Marjorie Farabee, Dir. of Wild Burro Affairs for Wild Horse Freedom Federation and Craig Downer, Board member of The Cloud Foundation, for joining in on the show.  Mimi needs help preserving the Abaco Spanish Colonial horse (Bahamas).  You can donate on the website, or help by sending a fax, email or letter (sample below).  Contact information is listed for the Prime Minister and Ministers of Tourism and Environment & Housing.
Faxes especially good because they are logged in and placed on the Minister’s desk.  Here’s the sample letter:
Honorable sir,
I (we) are aware of the strong efforts being made to restore the Spanish Colonial Horses of Abaco. I (we) commend this effort to help maintain descendants of the original Columbus horse, the…

(RENO,NV) On Friday July 25th Amy Lueders, Nevada State Lead for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), issued a directive on access to wild horse and burro helicopter roundups. Simultaneously the National BLM office has agreed to open up the “Broken Arrow” facility on Indian Lakes Road to public tours once more, including tours if the facility is used as intake from roundups. As a condition of this directive Laura Leigh, President and founder of Wild Horse Education, agreed to voluntarily drop an ongoing federal court action to obtain meaningful access to wild horses and burros during capture and in holding.

Report compiled by Lisa LeBlanc

Sometimes, when exploring for the Perfect Morsel with the hope that it that might bring about actual changes in the myriad issues surrounding wild horse and burro policies, we find ourselves in some unexpected places, and discover that even people & organizations of opposing beliefs can have a common ground.

The Cato Institute is portrayed as a “Libertarian think tank,” an organization which was founded in 1974 by, among others, Charles Koch.

The Institute’s website states, “The mission of the Cato Institute is to originate, disseminate, and increase understanding of public policies based on the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets, and peace.”  And “…offers guidelines on Federal programs that should be terminated, transferred to states or privatized…”

what will we do when our earth is dust !!

         Hi Everybody ,

i’m writing today about the sad state of the b.l.m. and their continued abuse of the land and the continued assault of the wild horses and wildlife that makes this country great. i am opposed to every way they have handled anything that falls across their desks . we know the b.l.m. has been being pushed by the cattlemen’s ass. to get rid of wild horses or anything that treatens  their for profit way of life . they get subsidized help for feed for these cattle that already live for almost free on public lands. at 1.35 for a cow and calf pair . many places in the western states are already dust bowls for the strip mining going on and gas exploration . already washington state has had many fires on the land which has taken houses and peoples livelyhoods  if the horses had been left alone that might not have happen.

cattle have destroyed the range land natural plants and the wildlife on these ranges . we saw the range land that the bundy cattle had trampled into the ground from the pictures on the news . when you look at pictures of horses in their habitats the range does not look like that ground that bundy had? or does it…….now when people are getting greedy with water also . they are fencing the water off from the horses so they can’t get to water but the up side of that is there are people that make sure the horses get water and they fight hard. but what is needed now is more and more people to fight for these wonderful animals .

The roundup of 946 wild horses is the first step in the planned total elimination of all wild horses in Great Divide Basin and Salt Wells Creek.

BEFORE YOU DONATE TO HELP A HORSE: You Must Read This!
tears
Please read and share, this message must be heard!

With the onslaught of horse rescue organizations and places trying to adopt out horses on Facebook and the Internet, there are a few important facts that you need to know. Voices4Horses is dedicated to the humane and ethical treatment of the equine population. We aim to expose the rampant abuse and misinformation available and help you make educated decisions. There is a reason Voices4Horses does not list every rescue organization on Facebook or on the Internet on our website; it is because we cannot stand behind all of them or verify their business or rescue as being credible.

Not all rescues or organizations are on the up and up, several have been charged with animal cruelty, fraud and other abuses.  Some have accepted donations for…
